Parent/Guardian Onboading Course

This project was to create an onboarding course for parents and guardian of new students of Galileo Preparatory Academy. In order to save time and reduce costs, the course needed to be self-paced, fully online, and provide a way to identify effectiveness.

The onboarding course was broken up into several modules covering pedagogy, process, and key guidelines. These were further broken into sub-topics such as mastery-based curriculum (shown above). Each topic contained several information slides as well as an interactive exploratory activities (such as the two above right). Each module culminated in a 5 minute knowledge check.

For this project, I served as the project manager, instructional designer, and business analyst. It was necessary to meet regularly with project sponsors and subject matter experts for Galileo Preparatory (GPA) to identify project goals, learning objectives, key information to be covered, et cetera.

This project was built using common industry tools (Articulate) and standards (SCORM). After three months, the new onboarding course was reviewed, given approval, and then uploaded to GPA's learning management system to be put in place for the summer of 2022.

A round of testing was also administered with subject matter experts and a relevant sample of the population. This testing was met with generally good reviews of the course.
